Feature Friday: EllieCreation

I missed a few features because I was on vacation. Sorry for that, but this week I am back with another  feature. Her name is Ellie and she blogs at EllieCreation. She is a sweet, lovely blond who I have had fun chatting with on twitter. I am glad I follow her blog and twitter, she is great.
Her blog design is so cute and shows her personality. She has a lot of beauty product reviews, so if you are looking to buy something, make sure you check out her opinion. I liked her post Lemon Sherbet, I could just imagine how the tutti fruity lip gloss would smell, and the lemon sheer nail polish is absolutely adorable. I also think that the matte lipstick in her post Pretty in Pink is gorgeous.

Tell me about your blog:
My blog started way back when i began youtubing; which was around 2011. I remember creating my first blog post and i was completely unsure on what i was doing the whole design and what i would feel my target audience would like to read and hear about. From this i focused more onto YouTube until 2012 when a lot changed for me personally. So much had happened, with my grandfather in end of life care and my own self suffering with depression, i felt at a loss and kept my distance from the YouTube scene. This is when i felt i could type more and express myself better than being sat infront of my camera and from this i spent more of my time focusing on my blog. Enjoying talking about all my passion of things cute, fashion and beauty and step into my own space for those few moments. Blogging is bliss to me.

What you love about blogging:
I love that i can express my thoughts on products, That i have met so many wonderful bloggers along the way, that companies have had interest in what i wrote also which i never thought would happen! and i love to be creative when designing the layout and even more so the photography side of it all!

Ideas/plans regarding your blog: I'm hoping some point soon to include more for the fashion side of things which will of course show more of me in the pictures so the audience can see who is typing! hehe; I just hope to be that sort of blog that when you want to relax for a while, catch up on something that bit different and not what everyone blogs about that they can come to my blog and expect an enjoyable read where i can be myself and relate to the reader. And lastly to host giveaways to thank my audience and followers for their support and give something back to them :) & to hope meet bloggers in person!

Some Interesting things about you:
- Very creative

How to style Aztec leggings

I have been away for quite a while because I am on vacation and my mum is here. I am currently showing her some places which she might have missed on her previous trips to Latvia, so I have not been able to write much. I see my mum only once a year for about 2 weeks, so I am sure you all understand how much I miss her and want to spend every second possible with her before she has to go back to Africa.
On Thursday I took my mum to a park she had been to but missed a few important photos. I wore my Pastel Aztec print leggings with a yellow vest and a bolero. On that day, the weather changed about 3 times. At first it was really windy and we were freezing, then it was sunny and more or less warm so we took some photos, and then it rained hard and we had to wait for it to end. I also went to the lady gaga concert on Thursday. I will write a post about that in the next few days.
Here is how my outfit came out. I loved every bit of it, i hope you like it too. I love the Aztec trend especially when it is in fun colors like this and could not wait to style the leggings. So happy with how the pictures came out. So if you were thinking of how to style Aztec print leggings or wondering if you should get a pair, I hope this helps.

Dorothy Perkins haul

I was on Dorothy Perkins a while ago and saw some amazing items. They have a sale going on and I think the items I got are a total bargain. There are still a lot of items available in the sale, so if you are trying to save up but still want to get yourself something new, go check it out.

1. Tan and leopard bar sandals - I have wanted tan sandals or flats for a while now, but I couldn't find the ones I really liked. So when I saw these cuties in the sale for £5 I was super excited. They are tan, leopard and gold.

2. Pink Lace Back Tee - I thought this tee was very interesting because from the front, it looks like just a basic tee, but then when you turn around people can see that you back is covered in lace. The lace gives it a more feminine and  chic look. This tee cost £5.

3. Mint Zig Zag Vest - At first, for some reason I thought that this vest was more simple. But then when I got it, I saw that it was made of glittery fabric, which instantly made it a more going out kind of item in my closet. Of course you can dress it down by adding basic jeans and flip flops for a more casual look. It cost only £4.

4. Gold Bling Aviators - This was the last item I got. Hubby recently liked my sun glasses so much that he took them, so I was in desperate need of new sun glasses. I am a big fan of avaitors, so when I saw these for £5, I knew I had to get them. They would look great with my everyday outfits since I mostly wear gold.

You will definitely see these items in outfit posts later once I find someone who can take some photos of me. I love all the items.

How to get long hard healthy nails

healthy nails, long hard nails, nails
I'm sure there are quite a number of beautiful ladies out there who have really short nails or nails which keep slitting. And they would love for their nails to be long, pretty and healthy. Well, like the saying goes- been there, done that. A bit over a year ago, my nails were splitting all the time. I kept trying to put nail polish or nail hardener on them to get them to stop splitting, but it didn't help.

So I started wondering how to get long hard nails. I tried different nail treatments sold in stores, but it wasn't helping much. It was the winter, and so I thought It was probably because I eat less vitamins in the winter. I decided I would wait for the summer when we have loads of yummy fresh fruits and vegetables and then I would get my nails to a healthy state.
Here is what I have found helps when you are having problems with your nails.

1. Eat a healthy diet. The vitamins from the food that you eat, also goes to your fingertips. If you eat lots of fruits and vegetables, you help to provide you nails all the nourishment they require and as such help them to grow. Eat food like apples, nuts, seeds, eggs, milk etc.

2. Drink lots of water. Everyone knows that drinking lots of water daily is good for the health. Well, it is also good for your nails because it helps keep the nails hydrated and prevents dryness and splitting.

3. Wear gloves when doing dishes. I know there are some people who don't like to wear gloves to do house chores. Well, if you want to keep your nails, pretty then you have to. The chemicals in washing fluids can affect the nails, so always wear gloves.

4. Dy your hands for at least 2 minutes. After washing your hands or doing chores, make sure you dry your hands properly.

5. Use acetone free nail polish remover. When buying a nail polish remover, try to get one that does not include acetone in it's ingredients. There are some which even say acetone free. They may be a little bit more expensive, but believe me your nails will say thank you.

6. Do not bite your nails or pick at the cuticles. I know the urge to bite off part of you nail when it breaks off a bit, or to pick at your cuticle when you see a bit loose. Don't do it! By doing this you will just make things worse. Keep a plaster in your purse at all times and cover it up if you have to. Get home and get it done properly.

7. Keep you nails hydrated. Rub a small amount of cuticle oil or petroleum jelly into your cuticles once a week or even more times if you have the time and do not forget. This will keep the nails hydrated and as such prevent dryness and splitting.

8. Use nail polish. Here it is up to you if you would like to use a colored nail polish or just nail varnish, but always keep 2 coats of some nail polish on your nails. This help protect them and keep them strong.

9. Massage you nails. Whenever you are not busy, massage your nails. You can do this while watching TV. I like to do mine by putting my nails opposite each other and moving my hands in opposite directions.

10. File your nails correctly. Don't file back and forth. The right way to file is in one direction. This way, your nails will not break.

11. Don't use you nails as a tool. Don't use your nails to scrape of anything or pick at something. I know it may be tempting in some situations to use your nails, but avoid this. When you do this, you apply great pressure to your nails which causes them to get weak and break either immediately or shortly after that.

12. Apply garlic to your nails to make them harder. You can either grate some garlic into your clear nail polish and get a homemade nail hardener. Or you can pierce you nails into garlic cloves and hold them in for about 10-15 minutes. This will help make your nails harder.

What helps you keep your nails long and healthy?

Prize from the dearest lou/ Motel rocks giveaway

A while ago I won my first giveaway on Cecilia's blog Dearest Lou. She was having a £50 voucher giveaway in collaboration with Motel Rocks, and I decided to go for it. I was super excited to find out I won because I usually don't win in giveaways. Anyway, I won a £50 Pound voucher and here is what I decided to get with it. I love all the items I got because they can easily be mixed with different items to give different looks.

1. Motel Helter Sheer Blouse In Plain Biscuit - I think this blouse can be worn with different colors, you just have to try it out to see how it looks. This blouse was on sale and cost only £10.

2. Motel Printed Legging in Pastel Union Jack Print - I love pastels, and as such when I saw these leggings on sale, I decided I just had to get them. They cost £12.50. Can't wait to wear these.

3. Motel Printed Legging in Aztec Pastel Print - These leggings are so adorable, I cannot even explain. They have a wide combination of colors which makes them wearable with tops/blouses of different colors. This was my reason for getting them. Plus, I was dying for something in aztec. They were not on sale and cost £21.

Feature Friday: Maude

This week I am featuring a lovely young lady who would love to become a fashion editor for a modest fashion magazine. Her name is Rachel-Maude and she blogs over at Maude. She would love to show the world that modesty is not what you wear, but how you wear it. I think that is fabulous, and I totally agree with her. You don't have to have 500 different outfits to look good, you just have to mix the right pieces.
She posts outfit ideas, style tips, store reviews and others. I liked her post on 4 Ways to wear a denim waistcoat. I think she came up with some very interesting ways. I never thought to wear a waistcoat under a jacket, but seeing it on her blog, it actually looks really stylish. She told me some interest things which I think you would find interesting. Get to know her.

August wishlist

August wishlist

Right now, I am lusting over quite a number of items. I chose some summer items which I will still be able to wear for a while since it is relatively warm right now. But because it is soon going to be cold again (sadly), I have to start getting ready for Autumn.

1. Yellow Blazer - I recently fell in love with blazers and want them in more colors so I can mix up a relatively simple outfit to look much more interesting.

2. Butterfly Print Bustier Crop - I think this looks great with jeans, shorts or a maxi skirt. I would love to try out the combination with a maxi skirt for a walk on the beach or a summer get together.

3. Black Leather Litas - I have been dying for these for a while now. I am hoping that I will finally be able to get them this month. They go with everything! Leggings, skirts, jeans, you name it.

4. Cat print Shirt with Peter Pan collar - I think this shirt looks gorgeous and would look lovely with a black skirt.

5. Black Print Hi-lo Collar blouse - These look good either tucked in or left hanging out over leggings. I like them in different colors and prints.

6. Makeup - I always need more makeup; either new nail polish, lipstick or something else to try out. It is so much fun.

7. Coral Lace up Shoe Boots - I love these. They are so bright and fun. I think they will look good with my autumn coat.

8. Dip Hem Dress - I don't own one of these. Not actually sure why... but I definitely think I ought to get one.

Feature Friday: Not so poisonous Ivy

Firstly, I would like to apologize for not posting the whole of this week. I currently have quite a number of personal issues I have to deal with and my friend's wedding coming up. I will back fully by next week.
But even though I haven't had much time, I thought I definitely have to introduce you to this week's featured blogger. Her name is Ivy and she blogs over at Not So Poisonous Ivy. I love the name she gave her blog, it sounds very interesting. Ivy has been blogging for approximately 2 months now, and I think she is really been making an effort.
She blogs about fashion and has a lot of outfit posts where she shows her style. I liked the items in her outfit post Dip me high, Dip me low; and her polka dot bag in Striped polka is just the cutest. Here is what Ivy told me about herself. Ivy is a sweet lady and I appreciate that she stops by my blog from time to time and leaves me lovely comments to read.

I've always loved reading fashion blogs and as a student I was always in jeans, track suit and and really dressing like a typical student. To develop the site up, and grow not only in numbers but in style as well.

Some interesting things about you:
  1. I was born 2 days before Christmas

  4. I love DRESSES and SKIRTS
  5. I'm a shopaholic (though not as bad as Rebecca Broomfield of Confessions of a Shopaholic)
  6. I'm addicted to Gossip Girl, Revenge, 90210 and all things Twilight
If you would like to see her style, go over and say hi. She doesn't bite. *giggle*
