Current Haircare Routine {November 2013}

Hello Beauties. During the summer, I started a hair growth journey but was slacking with actually taking my vitamins and had to change my usual hair routine when I went on vacation for about 3 week. Now, I am ready to start my hair growth journey over and thought it would be great if I first showed you my current haircare routine.

My hair is naturally really curly. From what I understood from all my research, it is kind of type 4 hair. I relax my hair once in 2-3 months depending on how much it grows. I would usually relax it when I see about 1 inch of growth or more and it begins looking too voluminous at the roots. When I relax my hair, it never goes bone straight which is something I like; it just becomes wavy and much more manageable.

I am fully aware that relaxing your hair is not very good for it because it weakens it, but managing my natural hair would mean taking a lot of time in the morning to properly comb through it without pulling half of it out. Also, my hair is naturally dry and plus I ombred it which means it needs a lot of moisture.

Current Haircare Routine, What I use on my hair, Haircare, Hair products

Shampoos and Conditioners

I usually wash my hair 2 times a week, sometimes 1 time if I can get away with it. On the weekend I would wash my hair using the Mane 'n Tail Deep Moisturizing Shampoo and Conditioner, you can see a full review of these here. When I am washing my hair mid-week, I am not too picky on what I use but at the moment I have the L'oreal Arginine Resist X3 Reinforcing Shampoo & Total Repair Extreme Reconstructing Conditioner as well as the Superdrug Coconut & Sweet Almond Shampoo & Conditioner.

I would also deep condition using the Superdrug Coconut & Sweet Almond Intensive Conditioner. I usually leave it in for maximum 10 minutes during the week and anything from 30 minutes to a couple of hours on the weekend.

Shampoos and Conditioners used weekly

Leave in products and sprays

Conditioning and deep conditioning is great but because my hair is very dry, it needs extra moisture which for me means applying a decent amount of leave in products daily so it looks and feels great. The leave in products I currently use include Mane 'n Tail Olive Oil Complex Leave in Creme Therapy and my all time favourite and holy grail hair product which is the Dark and Lovely Corrective Leave-In. You can find my full review on the Dark and Lovely Leave-In here. Both products are great and I am very happy with them as after applying them, my hair can then be combed without pulling out clumps of hair.

If I am going to leave my natural curls in, I would use my leave in products, some oil and then the L'oreal Studio Silk & Gloss Curl Power Spray. I would then scrunch my hair and leave it to air dry with continuous scrunching every 5 minutes or so.

When I decide to straighten my hair for some special occasions, I would use the Got2b 220C Heat Protection all over my hair, comb it out and then leave it to air dry before finally straightening my hair.

To finish off my hairstyle for the day, I would apply the Got2b Sparkling Shine Styling Spray which adds shine to your hair. I prefer to use this instead of hairsprays.

Leave-in products and sprays, heat protection, curl spray, styling spray, leave-inconditioner

Hair oils

To lock in all the moisture I add to my hair with leave in conditioners, I usually use a variety of oils. Coconut oil is used once a week to deep condition my hair overnight or during the day. I usually leave this in for a couple of hours which allows the oil to properly condition my hair. Castor oil is used once in 2 weeks in combination with the coconut oil and also left overnight. I read and have been told by lots of people castor oil helps hair grow so I am currently not only applying it to my hair but also my eyebrows and eye lashes.

My daily oils include Doogro Stimulating Growth Oil and Amla Plus Herbal Hair Oil which I apply starting from my ends and them work my way up to my scalp. I think both these oils are amazing and I use them everyday.

Hair oils used daily and weekly, castor oil, doogroo stimulating oil, amla oil, coconut oil

So that is basically what I use on my hair at the moment. The shampoo I use mid week changes from time to time and I would sometimes use my Aveda shampoo or any other one I purchase when my current products finish.

As I am starting my hair growth journey soon, I have gotten a few other things for myself and would tell you all about that in my next post.

I would love to know what your holy grail products are as I would love to try some new products out, so leave me a comment.

Have a fab day and let me know your holy grails.

The Friendly Bunch Blog Hop {#32}

Hello Beauties. I hope you are all having a fab day. If you haven't yet entered your Holiday inspired eye makeup looks into our contest, then I suggest you do that right after joining in this blog hop because it ends today.

The Friendly Bunch Blog Hop

This week we do not have any co-hosts joining us, but look forward to having you co-host with us.

This week we have a beauty DIY from Stlylinspire which I think some people will find interesting but some people might disagree. Have you ever tried making your own Makeup remover wipes by applying some moisturizer on a tissue? So occasionally Nia would use olive oil to take off her makeup but sometimes she also uses this; except she uses cotton disks instead of tissue paper. And it actually works.

DIY Makeup Remover Wipes, Budget Makeup Remover Wipes

We would love to hear your opinion on this budget makeup remover wipes or if you know of another way to make something similar. If you would like to see all the details of the post, please visit Stylinspire.

Animal print & Tartan

Hello beauties,  hope you are all doing well. Today I thought it's time to share a fashion post with some love to other bloggers. If like me you like to know each season's trends then you'd probably like this post. I'm sure you have already a lot of items from these trends in stores.

Animal print has been a trend on and off I think and I was kind of thinking it might just disappear this Autumn/ Winter, but I was wrong. I am beginning to think maybe it's one of those trends that never actually get out of style if you wear it right. Here are a few of the animal print pieces I am currently loving:

Animal Print Wishlist, Animal print trend
Leopard Bow Peplum Top  |  Animal Printed Strappy Vest  |  Grey 2 pairs zebra cozy socks  |  Navy shard and leopard scarf Petite 2in1 Pussybow Dress

I also thought it would be great to look at how some bloggers are styling it to give you all some inspiration/ ideas how to wear your animal print pieces this season. There is 1 thing I want you to keep in mind - When wearing animal print, pick one animal at a time and stick to it. Being daring is fun but, being half zebra half leopard is never a good look on anyone!

Bloggers in Animal Print, How to style animal print
Don't they all look fab? If you would like details on items worn in these images visit Inthefrow and Danielleyc. JessicaWabbit doesn't have a post on this outfit but I'm sure she would let you know where the items are from if you send her a tweet.

Another print you have probably been seeing all over the place is Tartan or check as some people call it. I've seen quite a few people style it differently but I do not own any tartan items {yet!}. Here are some of the options I am considering, but am not quite sure.
Tartan Wishlist, Tartan trend
Tartan Check Print Zip Blazer  |  Tartan Duffle Bag  |  Johnny Loves Rosie Tartan Bow  |  Sleeveless Red Tartan Skater Dress  |  Red Tartan Pleated Skater Skirt
If you are looking for ideas on how to style tartan pieces, here are a few examples from bloggers. Ever though fur and tartan? or Tartan on Tartan? These beauties show you how.

For outfit details, please check out the full posts on each of their blogs - Copper Garden, Styla Petite and Beauty Journal.

I hope these looks have inspired you to go get yourself some tartan and animal print pieces, because it has definitely inspired me.

Review: Catrice Prime and Fine Highlighting Powder

Hello beauties. One of my current most used brands is Catrice as I find their products really affordable and most of them work great with my skin. One of the products I have been using is the Catrice Prime and Fine Highlighting Powder in the shade Fairy Dust 010.

Catrice Highliting Powder in Fairy Dust

I am getting quite used to the black packaging for Catrice as a lot of the Prime and Fine products have a bit of black; so do the lipsticks. So packaging wise, the powder is pressed in a simple black comfortable compact case. The product is a very light shimmery beige powder which can be applied with either your finger or a brush. I personally tend to use both, depending on my mood and how fast I need to apply my makeup.

At first I used this product only to highlight my brow bone after filling in my eyebrows because since I have oily skin, highlighting the nose, forehead and other areas made me feel like I am just bringing attention to my oily T-zone. This week though, I tried highlighting all the required places with this product when doing my usual contouring and it looked amazing. And even when my face got oily, I did a touch up with my Catrice Skin Finish Compact Powder in Transparent 010 and it looked just as good as in the morning.  I am really happy with the results this product gives with a price below 5.

Overall Summary
Price - approx. 5 in stores.
Likes - Nice shimmery glow, affordable
Dislikes - None.
Verdict - Repurchasing.
Available - In stores in Europe or on ebay.

Is Catrice sold where you live? Have you tried this or any other product?

H&M Isabel Marant Collection Preview

Hello beauties. It is mid-week aka Humpday which means we are that much closer to the weekend. Big "Yay" to that! Last Friday I was lucky enough to be invited to attend the Preview of the H&M Isabel Marant Collection at the H&M Showroom.

The internal of the showroom is crisp white and all the lamps made it very bright and beautiful. I have been spending quite some time looking at home decor on Pinterest and I really like the modern white interiors. The showroom is a lovely place and I could possibly spend hours in it.

Now on to the collection! The H&M Isabel Marant collection brings a bit of the French charm to Latvia. It is a mix of urban style, bohemian elegance and the spirit of rock 'n' roll. This collection will be available for sale on the 14th of November 2013 in selected stores. Here in Latvia it will be available at H&M in Galerija Centrs, so if you like something, make sure to stop by.

H&M Isabel Marant Collection Preview

The collection for women included quite a few sparkly things I could possibly wear on a night out or to a party like the skirt, blazer or tank top in the pictures below. It also included statement pieces like the black & white shaggy jumper/cardy as well as the jacket with beaded embroidery. There are also casual pieces which can be worn daily or styled for an outing.

H&M Isabel Marant Womens Collection, Isabel Marant Black & White shaggy cardy
H&M Isabel Marant Jacket with embroidery beads
H&M Isabel Marant Sequin trousers
H&M Isabel Marant Studded Heels

This is the first time Isabel Marant has a collection for men, and it looks great. From jumpers to long sleeve shirts and from PU trousers to blazers. The collection can be worn by the more stylish men in our community as well as those who prefer the casual outfit. My favourite pieces from the men's collection were the blazer, brown boots, black hat & white sneakers for the summer.

H&M Isabel Marant for Men
H&M Isabel Marant Men Jumpers
H&M Isabel Marant Men Boots
H&M Isabel Marant hat for Men
H&M Isabel Marant Sneakers

The kids section was much smaller than the women/men section but also included lots of interesting pieces. If I had a little one, I can imagine styling a few of these pieces for her/ him. My favourite pieces in this section were the boots and the bracelets.

H&M Isabel Marant for Kids
H&M Isabel Marant for your little one
H&M Isabel Marant Bracelet
H&M Isabel Marant Girl Boots

All in all, I really do like this collection and can think of multiple ways to style some of the pieces. I am glad & very grateful to have been invited as I had a lot of fun. By the way, the macaroons were absolutely to die for!

Here is a video covering the collection:

What do you think of the collection?

Monthly Roundup: October

Hello beauties, hopefully your Monday is sunny and you are having a nice day. October has gone by, Autumn is in full swing and we are all gradually getting ready for Winter. Now it's time to look back at some of the October posts in case you missed any of them and are interested in reading them.

Some ebay finds which cost half the price in high street shops and are trendy.  looking good, doesn't always have to cost a fortune.

Part of the SO Project, I shared my views on mascaras I have tried. Which ones I liked and didn't like with reasons and how to apply mascara.

Coconut oil is great for many purposes, and any product which contains coconut oil is probably quite good. I reviewed the BodyShop Coconut Body Scrub and told you how I applied it, why I liked it and more.

We all want gorgeous long lashes and there are lots of products which are sold promising results. Some do not live up to expectation. I have tried the Mavala Eye-lite Double Lash and now written to let you know what I think.

Did you ever think you could use the same shampoo to wash both your hair and your horse's mane? Didn't think so. Here is one product that works for both and it isn't as scary as you would probably imagine.

Enjoy reading my lovelies.
