Review: Barbara Hofmann Beauty Cleaner

Hello my lovely readers. I hope you all had a fab weekend and are ready for the week ahead. I have never actually had a brush cleaner prior to this and always just washed my brushes with water. But not having 5 foundation brushes meant I sometimes used the brushes as is if I didn't have time to wash them.

I know dirty brushes are bad for the skin and seeing as I am acne prone, I decided to finally get the Barbara Hofmann Beauty Cleaner zur Reinigung und Desinfektion von Kosmetikpinseln. This way, I can clean the brushes before every use and don't need to wait for them to dry. Of course this doesn't make it squeeky clean so I will still wash my brushes as usual but I will not have to do it every day. So until I can get myself 5-6 foundation brushes and then get myself in the routine of washing them on the weekend, I'll just use the brush cleaner.

Barbara Hofmann Beauty Cleaner Review
Barbara Hofmann Beauty Cleaner for disinfecting and cleaning makeup brushes

The product comes in a spray bottle for easy use and is slightly pink which is probably one of the things that first attracted me to it. The packaging says to spray the product directly on the brushes and then remove the residue with a cleansing tissue. I personally prefer to spray on a tissue and then clean the brushes using circular motions.

I have to admit that the idea behind the product is great and now that I've tried it I am considering using it constantly, but the smell is awful. It may be because of the alcohol in it or something else, but I just cannot stand it. Whenever I use the brush cleaner, I have to do it in 1 room and then go do my makeup in another room. Other than that, I think the product is great. If you have any suggestions for a similar product with a smell not as harsh, please let me know.

Overall Summary
Price - approx. 10 in stores.

Have you tried this product or something similar?

  1. I don't have a quick cleaner like this I just use a damp sponge for spot cleaning and the sander soap for deep cleaning. You have just made me want this now, thank you x

    1. I think it is a great option as you can't really wash your brushes daily. This way you disinfect the brushes and don't get all sorts of rubbish on your face.

  2. I don't use brush cleaner either - just baby shampoo! This looks really practical with the pump and sounds like it really works! I wonder if it's available in the UK… xx

    1. I tried searching on feel unique and some other sites but didn't find it. I'm sure you should have something similar though. x

  3. I like this product!
