Review: J.S. Douglas Sohne Powder spray

Hello my lovely readers. Before we move on to what today's post is about, I'd just like to wish you all a great start to the week and hope you all have a fab week.

Today I would like to introduce you to a product I found in December or January {I can't really remember}. It is called the J.S.Douglas Sohne Powder Spray. I was already at the counter paying for the items I had gotten when I noticed this product and knew I had to have it. What attracted me most about the product was the packaging, it is absolutely beautiful.

J.S. Douglas Sohne Powder Spray

This powder spray is a scented shimmery powder which comes in a glass perfume atomiser. It contains vitamins and shea oil which makes it great for the skin. I have always wanted a perfume with one of these pumps as I think it has that vintage feel to it and looks amazing.

I have used this product a few times when going out and it adds a nice scent as well as shimmer to your skin and makes you glow. It smells kind of like vanilla and shea mixed together, and can be applied on your face, décolleté and hair. The smell doesn't last long so I wouldn't recommend using it as a perfume, but I think it is great for giving you that extra glow.

The product is very shimmery and has glitter in it so if you want it to be less shimmery in order to use it for daytime, I suggest holding it farther away from your skin. If you want more glitter for a night out, then just hold it closer. I think it is great for your hair as well because it makes it look shiny and glitters in the sun. My biggest tip with this product is to squeeze the pump gently. You can always apply more if you need. Getting it off on the other hand when you are almost out the door can be quite tricky.

What I like most about the product is that the top screws off! Which means you can fill the bottle with whatever perfume you like afterwards. It is small but very pretty. And for the price, I think it was well worth the money.

Overall Summary
Price -  13 {6g}
Likes - Gorgeous packaging, smells amazing and adds a glow to your skin. Bottle is reusable.
Dislikes - Small bottle.
Verdict - Reusing the bottle for perfume.
Available - Douglas

Review: Avene Eau Thermale Thermal Water Spray

Hi beauties, I hope you are all doing well this week. Today, I would like to tell you about the Avene Eau Thermale Thermal Water Spray. This was a present for me from a relative who has been using it herself and had very nice things to say about it so I was very excited to try it out. I have been using it on and off for a while when I feel my skin needs some freshness.

Avene Eau Thermale Thermal Water Spray
Avene Eau Thermale Water, Avene Thermalwasser

The Avene Thermal Water Spray is spring water in a can which helps refresh and soothe skin as well as sets makeup. Yes I know it seems weird that water can set makeup, but somehow it does. When I first got the product, I used to apply it after doing all my makeup without knowing it sets my makeup until one day I applied it after applying my foundation and then decided to cover my acne scars a bit better by applying some more foundation. Basically I messed up my foundation and it became all patchy because I didn't let it dry properly thinking it is just water. Then I understood it is much more than just water in a can.

I also use this product when I feel hot as it is very refreshing and feels very nice on the skin. I think the product will be great on hot summer days at the beach as it will calm and soothe the skin. The product is also said to soothe irritations. This I am not quite sure about because I've used it just once when my jaw was a bit itchy and it did stop the itchiness, but other than that, I haven't had any irritation.

So in general I think the product is great for setting makeup, using during the winter when your skin is a bit more dry than usual and in the summer to refresh your skin.

Overall Summary
Price -  £6.50 {150ml}
Likes - Refreshes and soothes the skin as well as sets makeup.
Dislikes - None at the moment.
Verdict - Purchasing the 200ml bottle.
Available - Pharmacies, Escentual, Boots.

What is your opinion on this product?

Hair Growth Journey: 3 Months Update

Hello beauties, 3 months have gone by since the start of my hair growth journey and the start length check. So it is finally time to update you on what I have changed with my routine and how much my hair has grown.

Hair Growth Journey, Hair Growth Update, Hair Growth, Long hair

In general, I have not changed products much as I realized I have quite a lot and have been trying to go through some of them before getting some more. So during these 3 months, I got only 2 new products: Timotei Organic Argan Oil, Almond Oil & Jasmine Extract Conditioner and Garnier Fructis 3 minutes Deep Repair Goodbye Damage Conditioner. If you would like to see my full haircare routine, you can read all about it or watch the video here.

Basically, my hair has not grown in the last 3 months. I am not sure of the reason for this because the average growth of human hair is 1/2 an inch per month, which means I should have gotten a 1.5 inch increase in length but didn't. I measured my hair from my ear lob to the end 3 months ago and measure it beginning of March, and it seems my hair hasn't grown at all. I measured it multiple times and one time it even seemed to me like it was shorter.

It may be that due to having my thesis due and running extremely late with it, I slacked on taking my biotin and cod liver oil capsules, as well as my weekly deep conditioning treatments using oils and conditioners. Or it may be for some other reasons. I am not entirely sure and as such will appreciate any tips, tricks and suggestions you could have for me as I really do want to get my hair longer.

You can watch a video of me rambling, and if you like it, why don't you give it a thumbs up and subscribe.

What are your tips?

Review: Guerlain La Petite Robe Noire Velvet Body Milk

Hi beauties, I hope you are all well. Today I am reviewing a body milk which is the Guerlain La Petite Robe Noire. During winter months I am always using body creams and hand creams as my skin tends to get really dry. So a while back, one of my bbfs Luchessa of Beauty Expression by Luchessa sent me a New Years package which contained this body milk.

Guerlain La Petite Robe Noire
Guerlain La Petite Robe Noire Velvet Body Milk For Glamourous Skin Review

I got the product in a 30ml tube with a twist cover. I think the size is perfect for travelling. The products itself is a white cream which smells absolutely heavenly. First time I put it on, it was like I had already used an amazing perfume on myself and it lasted for quite a while.

After applying the product, my skin felt really smooth and soft. I guess they don't call it Velvet Body Milk For Glamourous Skin for nothing. It was so amazing that I am in love with this product. I think it will also be great for summer months to put on after a swim or when travelling for a short period of time if you don't want to take along a lot of bottles with you, you could take your deodorant and this body milk which will work a 2 in 1 function by moisturizing your skin and giving you an amazing smell.

Overall Summary
Price - £34-£38 {200ml}
Likes - Smooth hydrated skin and amazing smell.
Dislikes - Price.
Verdict - Purchasing the 200ml bottle.
Available - Escentual, Sephora, House of Fraser.

Have you tried this product? What did you think?

Favourites: February 2014

Hello beauties! Last week was such a busy week for me, so even though it is the second week of March, I thought I would still do a post on by favourite products from February. I've never done one of these posts before but I keep reading them and thought I would finally do one. Hopefully, I'll have these up maybe not every month but every other month. It depends on if there is something different I am loving.

For February, I picked 5 items I am always using and which I love and think are amazing. I have reviewed some of the products so I will include a link to those so you can read all the details about it, other products I will be reviewing in the future.

February Favourites {skincare, haircare and makeup}

Lush Dark Angels

Lush Dark Angels Face and Body Cleanser
Dark Angels is a face and body cleanser from Lush which is made up of ingredients such as Rhassoul Mud, Organic Avocado Oil, Powdered Charcoal, Rosewood Oil and others. It is a great cleanser and exfoliate at the same time because of the charcoal and mud. For oily acne prone skin like mine, the mud absorbs the excess oil produced by the skin while the charcoal helps in fading acne scars. Because the product contains a lot of oils, your face doesn't really feel dry after using this as it might with just a mud mask.

Lush Bubblegum Lip Scrub

Lush Bubblegum Lip Scrub
The Lush bubble gum lip scrub is a product which has received a lot of hype. The smell if wonderful and it gently exfoliates your lips, leaving them chap free. It is a great product to use on a daily basis before applying your lipstick in order to keep your lips. You can read my full review on this product here.

MUA Smokin Palette

MUA Smokin Palette
This MUA palette contains 3 colours {purple, green & blue} and then all sorts of neutrals. It was one of the items included in my Christmas/ New Years package from the gorgeous Laura of Tease Flutter Pout {Go check out her blog because she is absolutely fab and one of my bbfs!}. I think this is a great everyday palette because of the colour range and the price. I use this almost daily when getting ready for work. Some beige & brown for the eyes, a coloured lipstick & I am ready to go.

Organix Macadamia Oil

Organix Macadamia Oil
This is one of the products I got when starting my hairgrowth journey and I am loving it. It smells amazing and glides on your hair when applying so using just a little is more than enough. Especially for me since I use amla hair oil before this. Macadamia oil is great for the hair as it contains vitamins and other nutrients, tames frizzy hair and provides UV protection.

Real Techniques Buffing Brush

Real Techniques Buffing Brush
Last week I did a review on the Real Techniques Sam's Picks Brush Set, so stop by and read all about it. From that set, the buffing brush is my absolute favourite. I have been wearing liquid foundation as opposed to the powder foundations I usually use during summer, so this brush is amazing for applying it. It buffs in the foundation evenly and leaves your base looking great. I also found that it doesn't absorb a lot of the product like some foundations do.

What were your favourite items in February?

Review: Real Techniques Sam's Picks Brush Set

Hello beauties, I hope your week has been ok. Once again, my week has been really busy and I always feel really tired when I get home from work. But on the plus side, it has been really sunny here in Latvia which makes me happy.

I love having lots of different brushes to use for my makeup as this means I can skip washing my brushes during the week. Using clean brushes when applying makeup is very important if you do not want to get any bacteria on your face as well as avoid unnecessary dirt. If like me you have acne prone skin, then it is even more important you use clean brushes.

I wanted to try Real Techniques brushes for a long time but didn't want to spend 24, so when I remembered about iherb,  I finally made my order.

Real Techniques Sam's Picks Brush Set
Real Techniques Sam's Picks brush set content and uses
Affordable Real Techniques brushes

The brushes come in a thin plastic package and have a description of all the brushes on the back as well as on the brushes themselves. So if you are new to using brushes and do not know which brush is used for what, this is very handy. The handles of Real Techniques brushes are colour coded: base brushes (yellow), eye brushes (purple) and finish brushes (pink). I find that this set is great if you want to try out different brushes as you get 2 of each type. This set includes: multi-task brush, setting brush, buffing brush, pointed foundation brush, crease brush and fine liner brush.

The brushes are made of soft synthetic fibre which is 100% cruelty free. The handles of the brushes are long and comfortable for use. The brushes were clean and looked as good as new. I use the buffing brush for applying my foundation and found that it doesn't absorb the product which makes it remain soft and fluffy even after multiple uses. I put the brushes to my washing test and am so glad to say they didn't shed or fall out.

This set was on discount at a price of $30 excluding shipping which is $4, plus I got $10 off my order as it was my first and over $40. Bringing my total order to $32 for 2 items. AMAZING! To prove the price difference: the starter set and core collection cost $18 on iherb which is approximately 13 in comparison to the 24 it costs here {total bargain!}.

I think the brushes are absolutely amazing and cannot wait to get the other 2 sets and other RT brushes. The quality is great and you can save some money if you purchase them with a discount.

Overall Summary
Price - iherb: 21, feelunique: 39
Likes - Soft synthetic fibre which do not shed after washing, comfortable handle.
Dislikes - None.
Verdict - Purchasing new sets.
Available - in stores, feelunique, iherb etc

Have you tried these brushes? Let me know what you think.

Dream Bedroom

Hi beauties! First of all I would like to express how happy I am it is Friday. This week has been a busy one and I am ready to finally have some rest {which means try to record a video  or two for my youtube and take lots of pictures for future blog posts}.

A couple of months back I began looking at home decor on Pinterest and got really wrapped up in the process. Imagining what I'd like my bedroom, living room, beauty room/ office and others to look like. So sitting down recently, I thought I'd put together some items I've found online and would love to include in my dream room.

I'm guessing we have all had the thought of what you would like your dream room to actually look like if you don't like your room or are planning to move soon. Then you begin buying items and it all comes together to look absolutely lovely.

When it comes to home decor, I'm the girl who likes everything white and crispy. Having white walls, tables, vanity table & book shelves with a mix of cream and a dark colour like brown/blue or red is something I would probably go for.

So here are some items I would like in my dream bedroom. None of these items are really expensive as I was trying to pick out items I would actually be able to afford.

Dream Bedroom

Let me know what you think. What type of items would you like in your dream bedroom? If you have any links to other items you think I should check out, feel free to leave them in the comments.
