Beauty benefits of aloe vera

Aloe vera is an amazing plant which has quite a few beauty benefits. I started using it when I was about 16 and was using it on and off, until recently when I started using it daily and it has been helping a lot with my skin. We've always had an Aloe Vera plant in every home so I was able to use the fresh natural gel most of the time, but you can also buy aloe vera gel in stores. I find the store bought product a lot easier to use as it is less sticky and doesn't need to be washed off. But remember, the more natural it is, the better it is for you. Here are a few of the ways I've used aloe vera:

1. Aloe Vera for healing skin or dry/flaky skin

Natural Aloe vera is great for healing cuts or if you're experiencing dryness/flakiness. It soothes the skin, helps it heal faster and moisturizes the skin. All you have to do is apply a small amount regularly, and you will notice the results.

2. Aloe Vera for acne

Aloe Vera not only heals the skin but also reduces spots and pigmentation. Its healing properties make aloe vera great for reducing acne both from the outside and from within. You can buy the aloe vera gel and apply it to the affected area daily before applying any other product. Then once a week, use the natural gel from the plant to do a facemask. From within, you can eat a bit of the gel daily. But this will depend on the type of aloe you have as I've found that some are overly bitter and I just couldn't eat it. In that case, you can always go with aloe vera juice from the store.

3. Aloe Vera as a sunburn relief

Aloe is great if you have a sunburn. It helps reduce the redness and takes away the unpleasant feeling your skin is experiencing. I don't usually get sunburned myself, but I've used it on hubs and it helped. You'll have to use it daily or maybe even more that once a day to see a difference in the redness.

4. Aloe Vera as a hair moisturizer

When battling extremely dry hair, you try quite a lot of things in search of what products your hair likes and which ones provide your hair with the needed moisture. I've recently tried applying aloe vera and loved how it made my hair feel. I used it as a hair mask as well as a leave in spray, and it made my hair really soft.

5. Aloe Vera for itchy scalp

Because of the antisceptic, antifungal and antibacterial properties of Aloe Vera, it is a great product to use if you have an itchy scalp. It calms the affected area therefore reducing the urge to scratch and helps with healing the skin.
