Review: Sleek Face Form Contouring & Blush Palette

Sleek Face Form Contouring & Blush Palette Review in Medium
Sleek Face Form Contouring & Blush Palette in Medium Swatches

A while ago I stopped by the shopping mall with a friend as she wanted to get a new bikini. I honestly was there only for the company and didn't plan on buying anything. But then we saw the Primor store which always gets my attention and I couldn't help but go in to have a browse. I stopped by the Sleek section of the store and was checking out what they have, thinking I need to get myself something from Sleek one day as I'd never tried their products. Then I noticed the Sleek Face Form Contouring & Blush Palette which turned out to be available in Medium so I swatched it. I am not sure if that was the biggest mistake or best decision ever. You know that feeling when your body is screaming with excitement and pure love but your wallet is yelling "Noooo". Well, that was it right there.

After walking around the store for a bit, I came back and just had to have it. The sleek face form is a compact palette containing 3 products: contour powder, highlighter and bronzer/blush. The design of the packaging is simplistic, stylish and comfortable. It is also a great size for carrying around or travelling. The face form isn't a pro contouring palette so if you're advanced and always like to do a proper contour then this may not be for you, but I think it is perfect for everyday which is exactly what I need. The colours are absolutely gorgeous and have just the right combination of matte+shine.

The product applies evenly and blends very well which means even if you overdo it with one of the products, you'll still be able to fix it. I've been using this everyday for work and I do not regret buying it one bit. I can't wait to try some more sleek products because this one is amazing.

Overall Summary

Price -  €13.50
Likes - colours are gorgeous, blends well.
Dislikes - none atm.
Verdict - repurchasing.
Available - bootssuperdrug.

Skinnymint Teatox

SkinnyMint Teatox
SkinnyMint Teatox Review
SkinnyMint Teatox to detoxify and cleanse your system
My experience with the SkinnyMint Teatox 28-day programme

We've all probably heard of the teatox programmes available all over. If you haven't, it's a detox programme where you drink a morning tea and then a night tea to help cleanse and detoxify your system. This is nothing like the juice cleanse because the teas are not meal replacements. You just drink them in addition to your usual routine. These teatox programmes are said to lead to reduced bloating, weight loss etc.

A while ago, I was offered the opportunity to try out the SkinnyMint Teatox Programme. I'd seen posts and pictures about it, so I wanted to know what it's like and if it actually makes a difference. My aim of testing it out wasn't to loose weight, but more to just cleanse my system with the hopes it improves my skin condition as well as to reduce a bit of bloating.

The SkinnyMint teas are made up of natural ingredients and the teatox programmes are available as 14 days or 28 days detox, with the possibility to purchase just the Morning boost or the Night cleanse. I tried the 28-day programme* and to be honest that's what I'd recommend as you'll see more of a diffrence in this time range.

How it works:

Morning boost- this is to be drank everyday with breakfast. It contains caffeine and is supposed to increase your energy, improve immunity and help with digestion. The ingredients include Guarana seed, Dandelion leaf, Nettle Leaf, Green tea, pineapple, strawberries etc. You will need to brew this for about 4-5 minutes, and the teabag can be rebrewed up to 4 times so you can continuously sip your tea all morning.
SkinnyMint Morning Boost Ingredients

Night cleanse - This tea is supposed to reduce bloating, detoxify and sooth the body for a good nights sleep. It contains ingredients such as Ginger root, liquorice root, peppermint leaf, hawthorn berry and psyllium seed, giving it an earthy taste where you can feel the ginger. You need to drink this every other night. Brew the tea for about 2-3 minutes, or you can brew it longer depending on how your body reacts to stronger laxatives.

SkinnyMint Night Cleanse Ingredients

My experience and thoughts:

The morning tea is fruity and tasted really nice. I didn't notice a lot of additional energy but I really enjoyed drinking it, plus it made me a bit more awake because of the caffeine so I didn't have to get coffee on early mornings. I think you can even make this into your daily tea and keep drinking it after the teatox.

The night tea is a bit more herbal but still smooth and easy to drink. After reading about it on the website, I was a bit worried as I don't like herbal teas and thought it would taste awful but it was really good. I enjoyed the way it warmed up my body before bed and I slept a lot better during these days. The night cleanse contains natural laxatives, so be sure to drink this once you're done for the day and do not plan to go out. Also, I'd advice to get up slightly earlier on days after drinking the night cleanse to give your stomach time to wake up and get the business done before work. If not you might end up in a slightly uncomfortable situation if you have morning meetings. So listen to your body and adjust your schedule if needed. I personally didn't experience any need to go to the bathroom too often, so it's not like you can't go about your usual schedule.

I can't say I noticed my skin getting any better, but I did notice that the bloating went away which is also one of the results I was hoping to see. I also felt a lot better during the cleanse and after it.

Overall, I liked it a lot and think I might do these cleanses a few times a year. It isn't recommended to do it too often as it'll be heavy on the system but I really think doing it once in a while is good for the body. And at 39.90 for the 28-day programme, I think it's definitely worth it.

Have you ever tried a teatox programme?

Current Deep Conditioning Products #1

Deep Conditioners I'm currently using

Whatever your hair type, whether curly, wavy, straight, kinky or coily, deep conditioning is important. Depending on the texture and health of your hair, you might need to do this more often than others but I'd definitely recommend deep conditioning every 2 weeks or once a month even if your hair is healthy.

My hair is extremely dry and I'm currently transitioning to my natural hair, which means my hair needs a bit more love than normal. So I like to have a deep conditioning session every week. Depending on how my hair is feeling I would use either a protein rich conditioner, a moisture rich conditioner or a homemade hair mask. The actual products I use tend to change from time to time as I like to try out new products but here are the ones I currently own:

Dark & Lovely Ultra Cholesterol Intensive Treatment

This is one of my all time favourites. I've mentioned it a few times on my blog or youtube and honestly would recommend it to anyone with damaged hair. I started off using it as a kid and it always left my hair moisturized, smooth and and less damaged. I also really like the smell of this conditioner. It contains Castor Oil which protects against split ends and contributes to hair growth. The slip is great making detangling very easy in the shower, and you can use it as an instant conditioner as well as a deep conditioner.

ORS Hair Mayonnaise

Hair needs protein in order to be healthy. You can apply protein to your hair by doing an at home egg mask but to be honest that is very messy. The ORS Hair Mayonnaise* provides your hair with both protein and moisture. The egg powder in the product provides the protein needed and the essential oils such as Olive oil, Safflower seed oil and lanolin oil moisturize your hair. This is something I really like about this product because you always need to balance the amount of protein and moisture your hair gets, as too much protein can make your hair hard. I noticed a difference in my hair the very first time I used this product which is not something I usually notice with products. You can read my full review here.

Dr. Miracles Damaged Hair Medicated Treatment

This is one of my more recent additions. I've seen Dr. Miracles products around all the time and always wondered how they were different from others. I was looking for something to boost hair growth as I honestly cannot wait to get to a length when I can cut off all the damaged part of my hair. I stumbled across the Dr.Miracles Damaged Hair Medicated Treatment* and even though I don't like how it smells I decided to give it a go and see how I like it. It contains menthol, jojoba oil, avocado oil, Aloe Vera and lots of other vitamins and mineral making it extremely good for the hair. I've only used this product a few times so my opinion is inconclusive but you can definitely feel the tingle.

Texture My Way Texture Control Moisture Intensive Dual Conditioner

This is my latest addition which I haven't gotten around to giving a try. I've tried the Texture My Way Keep It Curly Ultra-Defining Curl Pudding which was so good I went back for another jar but they were all out, so I decided to try the Texture Control Moisture Intensive Dual Conditioner*. One of the things I love most about this brand is the smell of their products. Seriously heaven in a jar if you like sweet scents. I was attracted to the conditioner because it contains Shea butter, Olive oil, Carrot seed oil, Glycerin, Horsetail Extract and other ingredients making this product very moisturizing and good for hair growth. I'll be sure to let you know what I think about it once I give it a go.

All these products were gotten from La Bella Cosmetics but can also be found on amazon or your local afro shop. Let me know what are your favourite deep conditioners to use as I'll be looking to try some new ones once I'm all out of these.

Have you tried any of these?

Review: Clean & Clear Dual Action Moisturizer

Clean & Clear Dual Action Moisturizer
Clean & Clear Dual Action Moisturizer Review
Clean & Clear Dual Action Moisturizer for Oily skin

I am always on the look out for drugstore moisturizers that actually work. With my oily skin, this sometimes gets a bit difficult. After watching lots of youtube videos and checking out some reviews, I went to hunt down the Clean & Clear Dual Action Moisturizer. I've been using it for a while and think it really works well for oily skin. The thing with oily skin is, if it isn't properly moisturized, it produces more oil to compensate the dryness which isn't actually there. I experience this a lot during the summer months when it's hot.

The Clean & Clear Double Action Moisturizer comes in a tube in Europe and in a bottle with a pump in the US {at least that's what I noticed afterwards}. It seems I watched more videos from US vloggers as I went out looking for the bottle since it's written in Spanish here anyway, so I almost missed it. The product is a cream based formula which is smooth and absorbs quickly into the skin leaving it properly moisturized. I also experienced less sebum production after using it. I usually use my Rimmel Stay Matte Primer after this and noticed that my skin was less oily and my makeup stayed on better with this product as opposed to the other moisturizer I've been trying.

To be honest, when I got this moisturizer I wasn't very high in hopes as I didn't want to be disappointed. But I am happy to say this product worked really well for me, and I'd recommend my oily girls give it a try.

Overall Summary
Price -  approx. €5
Likes - absorbs quickly and properly moisturizes the skin resulting in less sebum production.
Dislikes - none atm.
Verdict - repurchasing.
Available - bootssuperdrug.

Review: Kitvision Escape HD5 Action Camera

Kitvision Escape HD5 Action Camera
Kitvision Escape HD5 Action Camera Review
Kitvision Escape HD5 alternative to gopro
Cheaper alternative to gopro by kitvision

I love all sorts of tech gadgets and I am glad to work with Mobilefun once again. Previously I reviewed the Olixar Encharge Portable Charger* from them and told you a bit about them. The more time I spend on their website, the more items I add to my wishlist. They are amazing, and I'd recommend you check them out. This time, I've chosen the Kitvision Escape HD5 Action Camera* because I missed out on the chance to film some underwater videos while in Malta, but I don't want to miss out anymore.

The Kitvision HD5 Action Camera is a small lightweight video camera with a 1.5 inch LCD screen great for carrying around when going on an adventure or on vacation. I really like that it has a screen as this gives you the opportunity to preview what you are recording and make sure the subject of the video is in range. The camera contains a rechargeable lithium battery which charges in a couple of hours and is good to go. It is said to have up to 90 minutes filming time at the highest resolution which is perfectly fine for me. You can insert a micro sd card up to 32GB and the camera films in HD 720p at 30fps. You can also take pictures with a 1.3MP resolution which sounds very low but it isn't bad when taking them outdoors in the sunlight.

The Kitvision Escape HD5 comes packed with quite a few accessories including:
- Waterproof case which can be used up to 30m underwater
- Helmet mount & straps for those who love skiing, snowboarding and others,
- Bike handlebar mount for cycling enthusiasts,
- Tripod mount and
- 2 Adhesive mounts.

Even though it's got a waterproof case, I was still slightly scared the first time I took it snorkelling {I can be clumsy and not close things properly}, but it was totally fine. I plunged it on my selfie stick and into the water I went. The camera has a built in microphone, but when the camera is in its waterproof case the sound gets slightly muffled as with all action cameras. So keep that in mind when recording. The colour of the video comes out slightly less accurate but still close to reality with this camera, although you will see some compression artifacts when filming movements.

The camera is very easy to use which makes filming while doing an activity a pleasure. The action cam is missing features such as bluetooth/ wifi which would have made filming and transferring content much easier. But for just £40, I think we can't expect to have it all. It is a decent camera that is worth the purchase if you're not up for spending hundreds on a gopro.

I am glad that now I can record my adventures and share them with you all. Stay tunned for a video from my snorkelling trips.

What do you think about this action camera?

Benefits of Drinking Lemon Water Daily

Benefits of drinking lemon water daily

I've been on and off with my healthy eating because most times I just can't say no to pizza or a burger, but one thing I've stuck with for months now is drinking lemon water. All you have to do is squeeze a bit of lemon juice in a glass/bottle, throw in a few slices of lemon and add some water. Let that sit for a little while and drink it all day. I personally use an infuser bottle and just fill it up with some more water once I've drank the first bottle.

I've been doing this and really think it makes a massive difference in my body so I thought I'd share some of the benefits and reasons why I think you should also drink lemon water daily.

1. Flushing out toxins

You know all those toxins you put into your body from alcohol and what not, well all that does leave your body on its own but you can quicken the process by drinking lemon water. Lemon water is also great for weight loss. Whenever I have a night of partying, I always feel a lot better after a few glasses of lemon water the next day.

2. Achieving clearer skin

This is linked to my first point about reducing toxins. I find that when you drink alcohol, the chances of getting a breakout increase and since lemon flushes out these toxins and has antioxidant properties, it clears out your skin from the inside and you end up with a lot less blemishes. Also, lemon has anti-inflammatory properties which help the skin and can be used from the inside as well as from the outside.

3. Aiding digestion

Lemon water simulates the release of gastric juice which helps in the assimilation of food as well indigestion and bloating. So if you had too large a meal or suffer from gastritis, have a glass of lemon water after your meal and you will feel a lot better. It is also very good to have a glass of warm lemon water first thing every morning.

4. Boosting the immune system and increasing energy

Lemons contain a lot of Vitamin C which helps to fight against colds, flus etc. and potassium which is great for blood pressure. Vitamin C also helps in the absorption of iron which means we have more energy during the day.

5. Staying hydrated

Somehow I don't really like the taste of water. I feel like it's a bit too boring so I would usually opt for some juice. But not anymore, because now I drink lemon infused water which tastes great. Making me drink a lot more water than I did before which leaves my skin hydrated and looking lovely.

There are lots of other benefits of drinking lemon water, so I'd recommend you give it a go and see how you get on. You can get an infuser bottle on ebay which would make carrying your lemon water around a ton easier.

Will you be trying out lemon water?

Review: Mac Lipstick in Brave

MAC Lipstick Review
MAC Lipstick
MAC Satin Finish Lipstick in Brave Swatches
Wearing my MAC lipstick in brave

I love MAC lipsticks! My favourite ones are the matte ones as they have great staying power and I love how they look on my lips. But recently I got a different finish to try out. I've wanted an everyday shade from MAC for a while so when I spotted the MAC counter at the airport on our way to Malta, I thought there's no time like the present. I swatched quite a few of them and could not make up my mind as they were all so pretty, but in the end decided to go for the MAC Lipstick in Brave

Brave is a shade which is part of the standard collection and looks classy like all mac lipstick - a black bullet. It is a gorgeous neutral shade with a pink undertone which isn't too overwhelming and goes with every outfit. I wanted something neutral but not beige or brown, and something moisturizing enough I can apply it on my way to work without needing to use a lipbalm first {just in case I am in a hurry}. This lipstick is part of the satin finish range so it is exactly what I needed.

I've been wearing this to work a lot and I just love it. The lipstick applies smoothly and is very moisturizing. It stays on very well considering I am constantly drinking from my infuser bottle. I also really like that it doesn't look glossy {i'm not a fan of gloss}. Hopefully, I'll be getting some more shades from this range soon to expand my MAC collection.

Overall Summary
Price -  approx. €20
Likes - applies smoothly, moisturizing but not glossy.
Dislikes - pricey, but worth it.
Verdict - love it!

Summer Holiday Essentials

Summer holiday essentials

Earlier this summer I went on an amazing vacation to Malta. It is such a beautiful place and I would definitely recommend you go if you're still planning your vacation for this year or even next year. You can check out my posts and pictures in my Segway Tour post and Malta Boat Trip post.

I thought I'd share a few things I believe everyone needs to take when going on vacation. I've picked just a few items from clothing, beauty and tech gadgets I think are top essentials for your trip.

1. Sunscreen

Whether on vacation or just going out into the sun, the most important item you need is sunscreen. The UV rays affect our skin even when it is cloudy and you can still get sunburnt without the sun. So either you take a small bottle with you or you buy one once you get to your destination. I'd say you need a minimum of SPF30, although SPF50 is always better as it gives more protection.

2. Bikini

A holiday is never complete without a bikini or two. I love going to the beach either to sunbath or swim, so I took a couple of bikinis with me when going to Malta and just kept one in the trunk of the car in case I need it. Another option when going to an island is to wear your bikini as you never know where you could end up.

3. Camera

My camera is one of my best friends. I rarely take any trips without it as I love taking pictures. It leaves behind something to look at afterwards and have a few laughs, as well as something to share with friends and family. Everyone wants to know what you were up to while on vacation.

4. Sunglasses

I find sunglasses really important in the summer. Obviously, I wouldn't recommend wearing them while tanning as you'll end up looking like zoro. But they are necessary when going out to explore the city or island you are visiting. On my trip to Madrid earlier this year, I forgot my sunglasses. Even though I was there just for a day,  I found the closest shop and got myself a cheap pair which still has good protection.

5. Portable charger

Ever since getting my Olixar Encharge Portable Charger, I cannot imagine vacation without it. Even though we didn't use 3G/4G in Malta as it is very expensive, I still spent quite a bit of time on my phone when I had access to wifi plus we used our phones for navigation, so sometimes we needed to charge them on the go. The Olixar portable charger was perfect as it has enough power for 5 charges which meant nobody had to worry.

6. Nail polish

If your trip is short, just doing your nails before might be enough. But if it is a week long or more, I'd recommend taking your favourite nail polish with you, so you can reapply it. Nothing ruins a beautiful sunny picture like horribly chipped nails. For vacation, I like to pick a neutral colour or one which goes with all the outfits you have planned for your vacation. I took the Rimmel 60 second nail polish by Rita Ora in White Hot Love with me as it is such a gorgeous shade and you definitely cannot go wrong with it.

There are other items I think are also important like your phone and makeup {which you'll still take either way} but these are the top essentials I think should be in your travel bag.

What other items are a must have for your vacation?
