Affordable Fitness Clothing for Under €15

Earlier this year, I set a goal for myself to be able to go to the gym 3 times a week. This was difficult during the time when I had Spanish classes twice a week, but I'm free for the Summer now so I have been working hard on getting my body toned. I have finally achieved my goal, and I'm maintaining this pace. Sometimes, I get demotivated to go to the gym. Honestly, getting there is the hardest part because once I am there, I power through every workout. I've noticed that when I fall off the fitness wagon, something that really helps me get back into it is new gymwear.

Considering that gymwear isn't always cheap, I thought I'd put together a list of stores which stock affordable fitness clothing. As a challenge, I have put a 15 limit on the items and quite a few stores made the cut.

1. Decathlon

Decathlon is an amazing brand if you are looking for any sports or fitness related products. They also have their own range of gymwear which is very affordable, and with the discounts they usually have you can get a sports bra for as low as 3. I already own a couple of these and the quality is really good.

2. Lefties

Lefties which is the sister brand of Zara is known for affordable clothing and footwear, and they also have a fitness range. The collection includes sports bras, leggings, footwear and more. There aren't a lot of designs to choose from, but the prices are great. I really hope they expand this range because the clothing fits well and is comfortable which is exactly what you need at the gym.

3. Primark

Obviously this post will not be complete without including Primark. Their fitness range is cute and affordable, meaning you can build your fitness wardrobe guilt free. I am always lusting after the gym wear in Primark, but somehow it is never available in my size when I go.

Sports Direct is great for ordering fitness clothing online. The prices are low and the discounts are even better. There are so many different items of different styles, you'll be sure to find something you like. The only difficulty you will face is being able to try them on. But they sizes are pretty standard so that should make picking out clothing that will fit you easy, plus they have got a clear return address and policy valid 14 days after the receipt of the order.

5. Newlook

Another store that is great for gym clothing is Newlook. I think I was living under a rock and just never paid attention to their sportswear range, but after looking at it I honestly want all of it. The prices are below 15 as is, and if you check their sale section, they have some amazing pieces for as low as 5. Honestly, I think I am off to place an order once I hit publish on this post.

Now if you prefer to pick a more popular sports brand, but do not want to spend around € 30 on a gym vest, then I would recommend checking out Get The Label. The prices for fitness clothing from Adidas, Nike or Puma start at about 10, but you can also find some for lower.

Review: HD Brows Eyeshadow Palette in Bombshell

HD Brows Eyeshadow Palette in Bombshell Review
HD Brows Eyeshadow Palette Swatches

On weekdays, I usually keep my makeup pretty simple. Foundation, a bit of bronzer and mascara, but when I have a few extra minutes, I like to wear some eyeshadow. I love a good eyeshadow palette. Even more, I love an eyeshadow palette with neutral colours which is great for everyday use. So when I received the HD Brows Eyeshadow Palette in Bombshell*, I was really excited to give it a go. I had already heard lots of good reviews about HD Brows and their brow products, so I was expecting the eyeshadow palette to be just as good.

The HD Brows Eyeshadow Palettes are available in Bombshell which includes beige and ash shades, Foxy which is more honey and bronze, and finally Vamp which contains colours like berry and aubergine. The palette I received is in the shade Bombshell, which is designed for fairer skintones and lighter hair. Now although I don't fit ideally into the target audience, the colours are still beautiful on my skin. The palette contains 5 different shades ranging from light to dark letting you do a complete makeup look with just this palette. The colours are: Naked, Ash, Burnished, Graphite and Midnight.

As you can see from my swatches, the powders are highly pigmented and have a satin or matte finish. I use the colour 'Naked' which is a glittery beige, on the inner corners of my eyes, and apply a mixture of 'Burnished' and 'Granite' to my crease. The powders blend easily and once done, the final result is gorgeous. Without an eyeshadow primer, the eyeshadows last about 6 hours. But if you prep your eyelids with an eyeshadow base prior to applying the eyeshadow, it stays put for about 10 hours without creasing or coming off. I am very impressed it stayed so well, considering the current weather in Barcelona, which makes me believe it would last even longer in the winter months. I'd really recommend this as a travel eyeshadow kit because it's easy to carry around and the quality is amazing.

Price - approx. €36,5.
Likes - staying power
Dislikes - a bit pricey.
Available - lookfantastic, amazon.

Have you tried the HD Brows Eyeshadow Palette? What is your fave palette?

Acne Diet: No dairy, low GI & more

Acne diet to reduce cystic acne: No diary, low GI foods

Everyone who knows me or follows me on social media knows I've suffered from acne for a very long time. Last summer, it was under control. I was finally free from active acne (except the occasional zit or two) and I was working on getting rid of the acne scars. I was really happy with where I was and couldn't wait for my skin to be fully clear. But then winter happened and things got slightly worse, I wasn't too upset and just kept working on getting my skin clear.

Fast forward to this year, around January or so my cystic acne came back and in full force. This happens when I am in contact with chemicals, like if I am around when painting is done, or if I use chemicals for cleaning. Knowing this, I have been avoiding such situations for the last few years and everything was going well until painting work was done in the office. After a while, I finally found a good dermatologist and ever since then have been trying to get my skin under control. Because I am a firm believer that acne cannot fully be cured from the outside only, I decided to also look at my diet and see where I can make some changes.

Firstly, I excluded diary products as much as I could. Milk contains a growth hormone called IGF-1 which is great for baby cows but for those who suffer from acne, it increases sebum product and impacts inflammation and redness making the acne only worse. Diary also stimulates insulin production and that means more acne. So based on those reasons, there is lots of information on the internet suggesting that those suffering from acne should cut out milk & other diary products from their diet. After reading a lot on this topic, I decided to give it a go.

Although I haven't excluded diary entirely from my diet, I have seen a difference in my skin. I still have pizza sometimes or an ice-cream, but I believe I am handling it pretty well. Since dairy also contains probiotics, calcium or other nutrients which we need, you have to keep in mind to find substitutes. For example you can have your oats with Almond milk or Coconut milk, just make sure to get the unsweetened one.

Secondly, I'm focusing on eating foods with lower glycemic index (GI). High GI foods are believed to cause spikes in the production of insulin and that as we already saw with the case of dairy means more acne. So even though I love me some potatoes made in the oven, those had to go because not only were they making my acne worse, but they were also making me full and bloated. Since I am now actively working out and getting in shape trying to build muscle mass and loose the belly fat, this impacts negatively on all the work I have done.

Lastly, I increased my water intake and decreased the amount of soda, juice and other processed drinks I have. Water is so important for healthy skin, not only for those who suffer from acne but for everyone in general. If you do not hydrate then your skin will be affected and will look dull. The processed drinks also contain lots of sugar which is really bad for your skin.

I will be looking into other information regarding the link between the diet and acne. As of now, I have about 3-4 active spots but the rest is just severe acne scarring which needs time to heal. If you have any suggestions on how to help sever acne scarring, then please leave them in the comments below. And if you are like me suffering from severe cystic acne, know that it will get better. Start by looking at your diet and go see a good dermatologist. If you are in Barcelona, drop me an email and I can give you the details of mine.

Review: Aussie 3 Minute Miracle Frizz Remedy Deep Treatment

Aussie 3 Minute Miracle Conditioner
Aussie 3 Minute Miracle Conditioner Review
Aussie 3 Minute Miracle for Curly Hair

I've used quite a few conditioners over the years, some which require 5 minutes and others for deep conditioning which require 30 mins. I am always looking for new conditioners to try which will leave my hair properly moisturized and healthy. One of the conditioners I've been using for quite a while now is the Aussie 3 Minute Miracle Frizz Remedy Deep Treatment. Prior to purchasing this product for the first time, I had read so many reviews; from straight hair to afro hair beauties using it. I just had to give it a go and see how much I'd like it.

The Aussie 3 Minute Miracle Deep Treatment comes in a 250ml bottle and doesn't have a cap like regular conditioners. This is one of the points which makes this conditioner different from the others. It has an opening at the base of the container which allows the product to pass through when squeezed, but closes back up as soon as the pressure is released. The conditioner is creamy and pink-beige in colour with a slight bubble gum scent. It contains amazing ingredients such as jojoba oil and aloe vera which penetrate deep into the hair shaft to moisturize your hair and reduce frizz.

What is so amazing about this conditioner is that you do not need a lot of time to let it sit in before having to wash it out, making it perfect for quick conditioning while taking a bath. With the busy schedule I keep during the week, a quick fix is definitely what I need because skipping conditioning isn't something I can do.

I used this product while I was transitioning to natural hair and it left my hair really soft and moisturized, so I've repurchased it for use on my natural hair. Once again, it doesn't fail me and leaves my hair feeling and looking amazing. This is my go to conditioner during the week and I've suggested it to my friends because it works for so many different hair textures.

Price - approx. €7.
Likes - quick, moisturizes
Dislikes - a bit pricey.
Verdict - repurchasing.
Available - Druni, Boots, Superdrug.

JVC Deep Bass Bluetooth Headphones

JVC Deep Bass Wireless Headphones
JVC Deep Bass Bluetooth Headphones
JVC Deep Bass White Bluetooth Headphones Review

For a while now I've wanted a pair of over the ear headphones. Originally I wanted to get a pair of white and gold ones and didn't really think if I wanted the regular ones or wireless ones. But during one of my visits to the gym, my hand got hooked in the wire of my apple in-ear headphones and my iphone went flying. It was such a scare, but fortunately only the tappered glass protector I have on got affected. That's when I decided that wireless is important, so I started searching for a wireless pair. Considering I may sometimes be a bit impatient, I decided to just get one from one of the stores in Barcelona and keep looking for my perfect pair of white and gold ones. After searching a few stores, I settled on the JVC Deep Bass Wireless Headphones.

The physical appearance of the JVC Deep Base Wireless Headphones isn't extremely pleasing. Other than the crisp white look from this specific colour, the material it is made of looks pretty cheap as opposed to some other brands which retail at the same price. Still, they were the only white pair and I was determined to give them a fair trial. They are lightweight, easy to wear, expandable to fit most of my hairstyles and I really like that it has a mic, letting me answer calls which come in without taking out my phone. The ear pieces can be turned, in order to make the headphones flat which makes them easy to carry around.

The headphones are easily rechargable and last about 10 hours of play time which is more than enough for me considering I mostly use them for the gym or when I take public transport. Even though the material doesn't look very sturdy, it is pretty strong and even after handling it badly a couple of times, the headphones are perfectly fine. The sounds is loud and clear with the posibility to increase the volume both on the headphones and on your phone. It also has a button to turn the bass on/off depending on your preference. I really like the headphones, still I feel they are slightly overpriced as I've seen some good ones on amazon for about € 30.

Price - approx. €70.
Likes - colour, sound.
Dislikes - plastic looks a bit cheap.
Available - Fnac, amazon.

Do you have any suggestions for a pair of white and gold bluetooth headphones?

Review: SheaMoisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie

SheaMoisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie
SheaMoisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie Review
SheaMoisture Coconut & Hibiscus Curl Enhancing Smoothie

In March, I finally lost my SheaMoisture virginity and purchased two products which I had heard a lot of good reviews on. The first product was the SheaMoisture Jamaican Black Castor Oil Leave-in Conditioner, and I've reviewed that earlier so stop by and have a read. The other product I got was the SheaMoisture Coconut & Hibiscus Curl Enhancing Smoothie.

The product comes in a 340g jar and has the consistency of leave-in conditioner mixed with gel. The SheaMoisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie defines curls, reduces frizz and adds moisture & shine. This curl cream contains Shea butter, Coconut Oil, Silk protein, Neem Oil, Avocado oil and lots of other great natural ingredients. I started using this product towards the end of my transition for braid outs and was even able to pull off wash and gos thanks to it. Now I'm using it on my natural curly hair and it is amazing. The consistency is perfect because it hydrates your hair and gives your curls a nice hold without drying out the hair or becoming flaky.

About 2 weeks ago, I used it on a braid out for the first time since I became fully natural once again, and I was blown away with the results. My curls were so defined, moisturized and frizz free, and that was the moment I knew this is one of my favourite products I have tried. Stop by my instagram (itsanitasky) for pictures on the hairstyles I do using this product.

Price - approx. €15.
Likes - hydrates, defines curls and gives a nice hold.
Dislikes - none.
Verdict - repurchasing.
Available - SheaMoisture, Afro stores.

Easy ways to improve your blog

Easy ways to improve your blog

It has been a really long time I've written a post on blogging tips, tricks or advice. I've learnt a lot over the last few years of blogging and I love sharing my knowledge with other bloggers, so I though I'd put together a list of things you could easily do to improve the look of your blog. There are no rules in blogging, and I am no expert, but no matter how much people say the look of the blog doesn't matter, the truth is that it does. You may have good content, but if readers cannot find the information they need from your blog and everything looks messy, they will probably not be back for more.

1. Get a new banner

If you really love blogging, you can do it for years and having the same banner could get boring. You can give your page a new look by getting a new banner which you can either create by yourself or order from etsy.

2. Rewrite your "About me" page

While blogging, life goes on and things change so your 'About me' page might become a bit outdated. It is important to edit it once in a while. If you've got a picture there, change the picture to a more recent one.

3. Declutter your sidebar

With all the widgets we have available, it's easy to get carried away with what we put in our sidebar. Check what you currently have and delete everything you are not using. White space is important on a blog, it gives the feeling of organization.

4. Reevaluate your ads

Ads are one of the ways bloggers make money from their blogs, but if the ads are not bringing in money then they are pretty much useless. So it's better to delete them and create space for new ones.

5. Add the "You might also like" widget

In order to link your content and increase your bounce rate, it is a great idea to add the "You might also like" widget at the end of your posts, this way sharing older content.

6. Show your popular posts

Other than sharing similar posts at the end of your blog posts, you could also share your most popular posts this week or in the last month in your sidebar, and give them more exposure.

7. Make your photos large

In my opinion, there is nothing worse than a review of a product where you can't properly see what is in the image due to the size. Be it the full name of the product, the swatch or anything else. Photos on blogs need to be large, bright and clear.

8. Categorize your content

If your blog is about more than one topic, it is important to categorize the blog in order to make it easier to navigate. This way, if someone wants to see fitness posts, they can easily find it and scroll through all the fitness posts you've written.

9. Make your content shareable

In order to get more exposure, it is important to make your images and posts shareable. This way your readers can send your posts to their friends, share them on social media etc with just one click.

10. Include links to your social media profiles

Blogging goes hand in hand with social media. This is where you share your content, and if people find you interesting then they would like to stay updated on what is happening by following you on your social media profiles. If you do not have social media buttons on your blog, finding you is quite difficult.

11. Include a search bar

In addition to categorizing your content, it is important to have a search bar somewhere on your blog. Search bars make it a lot easier to find content. For example, if I remember you wrote a post on the Nails Inc Gel nail polish but I don't remember if you'd recommend this product or not, I can easily search for "Nails Inc" in your search bar and come up with the post, instead of scrolling through all your posts trying to find it.

12. Remove audio/video players which play automatically

There is nothing more annoying than audio/video players which start automatically the moment you open a blog. If you still have that on your blog, please remove it immediately.

13. Optimize fonts

Having a pretty blog design isn't everything. It's pretty much pointless if your font is not readable. Make sure the main content is on a contrasting background, the font is basic, easy to read and large enough.

Do you have any other suggestions which should be included?

New In: Nails, Skincare and Hair

New in: Rimmel, Aussie, Hawaiian Tropic and more

I'll have to admit it has been a while I bought beauty products. The focus for the last few months has been to get my skin back to being better like it was last summer. I've been seeing the dermatologist and using the products he prescribes so I didn't want to try any new makeup or skincare. But a girl can never go very long without buying at least something new, so here is what I got this week.

Nail polishes

After seeing my friend in mint nail polish, I remembered how much I loved it in the summer and just needed to get one right away. I've gotten a bit of a tan already as the weather has been amazing, and the Rimmel 60 Seconds Super Shine Nail Polish by Rita Ori in Roll in the Grass looks so dreamy. Another confession here, painting my nails isn't exactly my strong suit. I barely have time during the week and as such I've been looking for a gel-like nail polish which holds at least 5 days and doesn't require a UV lamp. I tried the Catrice Ultra Stay & Gel Shine System, but that proved to be a disappointment so my search continued. Rimmel nail polishes seem to be nice, so as soon as I saw the Super Gel 2 Step System, I grabbed the last one in shade Angel Wing as if my life depended on it. Lastly, I picked up the Zensibility Limited Fashion Edition Nail Polish in Zensible Rose just because the packaging was so beautiful. Whenever there is a new limited edition from Catrice, I always find at least one item I fall in love with.

If you're not yet up to date on my hair journey, then you'll have to catch up quickly by reading this post. I do a lot of conditioning and deep conditioning, but there isn't always time for it so I need a quick fix. I used the Aussie 3 Minute Miracle Conditioner while I was transitioning and it was amazing, so I've decided to try it out on my natural hair. I'll be sure to let you know how that goes.

With the amount of sun we get, it is extremely important to wear sunscreen, especially when you're going to the beach. I tried the Garnier Clear Protect+ Spray SPF50 from a friend on my last tanning session and really liked it, but I'll save that for my body. Since my skin is really oily as is, I try to reach for oil-free products for my face, so I picked up the Hawaiian Tropic Silk Hydration Face Lotion SPF30. I'm really excited to try the face lotion this weekend because my face needs a bit more colour.

Have you tried any of these products? Let me know what you think.
