Doing my manicure during the week doesn't usually work out for me. I can plan it all I want but then something comes up and my plan changes, so I have been on the search for the best Non-UV Gel effect nail polish. This way I can paint my nails over the weekend and have them last all week. There are lots of brands which claim 7 days or 14 days chip free manicure, but do they actually live up to that claim? I've tried the Catrice Ultra Stay & Gel Shine System and was disappointed with the results. The next one I chose was the Rimmel Super Gel.
The Rimmel Super Gel is a two-step gel colour system which includes the nail polish and a top coat to achieve salon-like nails without the use of a UV lamp. The brush of the product is large, making it easy to apply smooth coats of the nail polish. The colour I chose was Angel Wing 022 which is a lovely soft pink that looks good on most skin tones. The nail polish is pigmented but still requires 2 coats in order to look good which I think is pretty standard. I really like that it dries quickly and doesn't require any UV lamp but still has the gloss and shine of a gel manicure.
Rimmel claims that once your manicure is done, you can get up to 14 days of gel colour & shine. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to get that much wear out of it. My manicure lasted for 5 days, after which I had to take it off as it had started to chip. Actually, the thumbs already started to chip slightly on the third day, but nothing too visible until the fifth day. Considering other nail polishes last a maximum of 3 days, I am pretty impressed. It isn't the 14 days as claimed, but it's good enough for me. I'm going to look for another brand to rival this polish, but until I find one this is my current winner.
Summary
Price - approx. €7.
Have you tried the Rimmel Super Gel Nail Polishes? What is your favourite Non-UV Gel System?
