Starting Off: {Foundation}

Hello beauties. It is week 3 now of The SO Project and I do hope you are having fun reading my posts. I also hope these posts will help someone just starting off with makeup out there. This week we have Foundation. If you would like to read the previous weeks, we have Week 1: Skincare & Week 2: Concealer.

Foundation is probably the first or second product you discover when you start off with makeup. At least it was for me.

So because I have got oily skin which is acne prone, it could be quite a challenge finding a high coverage foundation specifically for oily skin after the application of which your face doesn't look like a greased pan after 3 hours. I have tried quite a few products and would like to share some of them with you. Remember, keep trying until you find what really works for you.

Maxfactor Miracle Touch Foundation
I used this foundation for quite a while and I really liked it during the winter. During the hot months though it just wasn't doing it for me as it looked oily. The coverage is good and because of the consistency, I didn't have to use a concealer with it. I really did like it while I used it but then I moved on. Thinking back now, I will try using this but with a setting powder and my Urban Decay Oil Control Spray to see how that works.
If you would like to see, I've got a review here.

L'oreal Paris True Match Mineral Foundation
This is a mineral powder foundation which is good coverage and blends to match your skin tone. I was introduced to this by my friend who is a Makeup Artist and I love it. It works well on my oily skin and when I need more coverage I just use my MAC Pro Longwear Concealer on those places and blend it out.

Catrice Photo Finish 18h Liquid Foundation
This is a medium coverage foundation which I use on good skin days when I do not need as much coverage. Even though it says liquid foundation, it is quite creamy. A lot more than other liquid foundations I have tried. I still have this foundation and I really like it but I am looking forward to the new collection from Catrice this Autumn.

There are lots of other foundations you can try depending on your skin type. Some of them I would love to try but do not have access to get matched or they are just a bit too expensive in my opinion. So just work with what you can get your hands on and make the best of it.

You can apply your foundation with your fingers, a sponge or a brush. I used to use my fingers a long time ago but I now use a brush and am considering trying out the Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge.

What is your favourite foundation & for which skin type?

  1. True Match sounds great! I have oily/blemish skin also and I use MACs Studio Fix Fluid, it has great coverage and doesn't shift easily!

  3. I have acne-prone, oily, pale yellowish skin that gets RED! Loose Mineral makeup really is the best for me - right now I'm loving Lumiere Cosmetics Cashmere formula in Golden Light. It's become an HG product for me.

    1. It's so annoying when it gets red isn't it. I will look into that product if we have the brand here. Thinking of trying out something new. Thanks. x
