Hello beauties. Today is finally another day to talk about face primers. I haven't posted a lot of face primers on the blog because I don't use them very often, but when I do I like to use a good one. With my skin type, you'd think I'd want to minimize my pores so my makeup applies perfectly. And yes I do, I just don't want the product to block my pores from breathing. Because let's face it, my skin is acne prone and has absolutely no problem having breakouts as is, so I don't want to give it any help by applying the wrong products.
I tried a face primer earlier from Catrice called the Prime & Fine Smoothing Refiner, but it didn't really work for me. After a couple of tries, I was forced to put it away and purchase a new one. I decided to go for the Artdeco Skin Perfecting Makeup Base, which is a tad pricey in comparison to the Catrice. But I wasn't ready to spend much more on the Benefit Porefessional, so I got it.
One thing I liked about this product straight away was that it comes with a pump. Personally, I'm not a huge fan of products you need to apply all over your face and repeatedly dip your fingers in a jar for each use. I feel that increases the changes of bacteria. So I'd say face primers should come in a tube or with a pump.
The Artdeco Skin Perfecting Makeup Base is a matte gel which applies very smoothly on the skin, it doesn't feel heavy and absorbs well. I would say it slightly mattified my skin but can't say if it really minimized my pores. But seeing as it allows your skin to breathe, I'd say it is ok for everyday use. I usually use about one pump of the product, but sometimes I want to add a bit more in my T zone. I apply it all over my face after using my moisturizer but before my mineral foundation.
I got this product a while back {I'd say about 3 months or so} but because I don't use it everyday, it has lasted a very long time. The product contains Vitamin E and minerals and excludes silicon or any parabens making it great for the skin.

I thought it was just me! What do you think of the Benefit Porefessional?
DeleteMost of the western type of primers do not work for me :( The only one i can really recommend is the Black Egg Pore Gel Base by SkinFood - a korean brand that makes a difference for my face.
