The moment we chose to visit Crete as one of our Greek islands, I began researching what to see, and one of the cities which caught my eye was Chania. Since we were spending some time in Crete, we rented a car and drove over to Chania to spend some time.
Chania is a beautiful place, it has a very different vibe than Heraklion which is less city hustle and more relax and chill. We only spent 1,5 days in Chania but it was absolutely amazing. We stayed at the aaa hotel and the room and service was extremely pleasant. Getting a last minute room at the beginning of June wasn't a problem, and they had a parking area which made the logistics very comfortable.
Walk around the old town
The streets of Chania are beautiful and filled with touristic shops. They sell all kind of souvenirs, from the typical fridge magnets to traditional olive oil and spices. You'll also find small local jewellery stores that make beautiful pieces.Visit the beach and spend some time relaxing
The beach in Chania was very relaxing, we would go prepared in our bikinis to breakfast and then to catch some sun rays right after. This allowed us to get out tan on during the most amazing time. You can rent a pair of beach beds for 5 EUR.Visit the Old Harbour
When you go exploring the old town, make sure to take a walk all the way to the Old Harbour. The view to the city is gorgeous and climbing the wall that leads to the lighthouse was absolutely amazing.Drive to Elafonissi
If you're visiting Crete, I'd recommend getting a car so you can explore as much as possible of the island. The car will also come in handy when in Chania so you can visit the Elafonissi beach. The drive was a bit complicated due to the shallow roads.Have you ever been to Chania? What was your favourite thing about it?
